First important part when choosing a motherboard is deciding whether you wants to to go with Intel or AMD. Both offer processor options across a wide variety of different price and performance levels, Whether you want to build for a light home uses or maybe something powerful enough to handle 3D contents creation or gaming at the same time, Once you decided which CPU family is best for you then you will need to pick a motherboard that uses the right socket. When you are finding for CPU, make sure to look at the indicated socket type. Most common sockets types are LGA 1151 (Intel) and AM4 (AMD). The larger the size of the board and more specs = more costly. If you are setting up normal personal computer, Mini ATX should be enough.
